POSITION SUMMARY

Perform a variety of accounting functions.  Individuals in this position are fully cross-trained with other Accounting Associates and rotate responsibilities on a regular basis in order to maintain proficiency.  From an internal control standpoint, Accounting Associates are expected to function as a key line of defense in identifying errors, omissions, and fraud.  In order to achieve this, it is expected that individuals have a clear understanding of the Bank’s lines of business and knowledge of what accounting entries represent.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Processes daily extract from Bank’s Core processor into the general ledger software.
  • Posts applicable activity into the general ledger system on a daily basis.
  • Completes general ledger reconciliations on an as needed basis to ensure integrity of the ledger system.
  • Follows up with appropriate personnel to see that outstanding reconciling items are resolved timely.
  • Monitors the Bank’s liquidity in all correspondent banks, including Federal Reserve.  Makes recommendations for necessary funding or          investing excess funds.
  • Order foreign currency and process foreign exchange items with correspondent bank for branches.
  • Verify expense reports for proper general ledger use and required documentation.
  • Assist with various month-end closing duties.
  • Work with associates to ensure dual control over the wire transfer requests. Wire transfers should be processed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with standard internal controls and OFAC guidelines ensuring that the role of customer service representative is fulfilled properly to protect the integrity of the Bank.
  • Preparation of payroll entries and reconciliation of gross payroll to third party.
  • Must complete BSA, AML, and other Regulatory and Continuing Education as assigned.
  • Must adhere to all bank and regulatory policies and procedures specific to position.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Associates Degree or the equivalent work-related experience required.
  • 1-3 years of similar or related experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Microsoft Office (including intermediate level of Excel and Word knowledge).
